Speaker Bios

Andrew Grantham

Senior Economist, CIBC
Andrew is an Executive Director and Senior Economist with CIBC, with a wide range of experience in different areas of economic and financial market forecasting. Joining CIBC in 2011, he initially focused on the U.S. and international outlook and its implications for foreign exchange and fixed income markets. More recently, he has taken over responsibility for the Canadian provincial outlook. Andrew has helped CIBC win MarketWatch’s monthly contest for U.S. forecasters six times, and is regularly quoted by the print and electronic media. Andrew gained a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of York, and previously worked in London, England for one of the U.K.’s largest banks, covering the UK and European economies.

Alan MacKenzie

CEO, JLL Canada
Alan is responsible for developing JLL Canada’s business strategy, driving revenue, delivering best-in-class service to clients, and partnering with the company’s business in the Americas and globally.  Based in Toronto, he leads the business and its adoption of new technologies across Canada. 

Before joining JLL in September 2019, Alan was President at Triovest Realty Advisors, a real estate advisory and investment firm with over $10 billion in assets under management. Alan’s career spans over 30 years assuming the roles of broker, investor, asset owner and company founder. His experience in commercial real estate includes: capital markets, development, value enhancement, leasing, asset management and joint ventures.
 
An Honours graduate of the School of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Waterloo, Alan began his commercial real estate and entrepreneurial life part time throughout university as a market researcher with a side business of producing hand drawn architectural renderings.

Lara Ryan

Consultant with an expertise in sustainability, ESG, stakeholder relations and communications
Lara Ryan is a consultant with an expertise in sustainability, ESG, stakeholder relations and communications. She helps clients articulate and demonstrate their social and environmental value as they navigate low carbon economy opportunities.

Lara has 30 years of strategic leadership experience including the past twelve years (until December 2020) as the Atlantic Regional Director of the Canada Green Building Council, focusing on sustainability and the adoption of green building practices in commercial real estate. Lara background also includes leadership and communications roles in the not-for-profit sector including the Canadian Red Cross and Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia, along with a part-time faculty role in Communication Studies at Mount Saint Vincent University.

Tindaro Siragusano

CEO, 7orca Asset Management AG
As CEO, Tindaro Siragusano is responsible for planning and implementing the strategic direction of 7orca. In addition, he heads the Client Office, where all relationship-related activities are bundled. The graduate in business administration with a focus on quantitative methods has over 20 years of experience in quantitative asset management. Before founding 7orca, he held management positions at HypoVereinsbank and Berenberg. At Berenberg, as Global Head of Asset Management, Tindaro Siragusano was most recently responsible for the strategic realignment and successful establishment of the business area.

Johannes Reis

Executive Director, Conducting Officer Portfolio Management, Pancura
Johannes is an Executive Director and Member of the Board of Directors of Pancura. He joined Pancura in 2019 and is also acting as Conducting Officer Portfolio Management. From 2010 to 2019 he was acting as Senior Manager in Assurance for PwC Luxembourg on large international Real Estate, Debt Funds, Private Equity and Securitisation assignments for regulated and unregulated structures. His expertise covers as well Lux GAAP and IFRS for a wide range of Alternative Investment structures. Johannes holds a Diploma in Business Administration with Auditing/Controlling and Business Taxation from the University of Trier. Johannes is a member of several ALFI working-groups and he is expert-comptable in Luxembourg. He is fluent in German, English and French.

David Pappin

Partner, Portfolio Manager, RECan Global - President & CEO, PG Asset Management
David is a Partner at RECan Global and the President and CEO at PG Asset Management. In addition to his executive management responsibilities he focuses on portfolio management, investment strategy, and acquisitions. David has over 30 years of experience in the Canadian commercial real estate industry including executive management positions in both private and public entities.  David was most recently Senior Vice President and Fund Manager at Fiera Real Estate Investment. Prior to this David was President of IAM Real Estate Group, a public company, where David oversaw all aspects of the business including the management of closed and open funds in excess of CAD $1 billion. David has extensive experience in portfolio and fund management, fund creation, as well as asset analysis and direct asset acquisitions.

Dr. Bernhard Engelbrecht

Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, RECan Global
Bernhard is a co-founder and Managing Director at RECan. Based in Luxembourg, he provides executive management services to RECan along with responsibilities for Investor Relations, finance and reporting. Dr. Engelbrecht also maintains responsibility for regulatory compliance in Luxembourg and oversees the relationship with our independent fund partners (Pancura, Pandomus, Hauck & Aufhäuser, Baker Tilly, Colliers International).
Bernhard has many years of experience as CFO and managing director of regulated and unregulated fund structures. He has experiences in setting up and running CSSF and BaFIN supervised AIFM´s. Bernhard has more than 20 years of experience in investing in real estate as well as private equity with investments of more than 10 billion Euros.

Todd Bechard

Managing Director, RECan Global - CIO,PG Asset Management
Todd is a Managing Director of RECan Global and the Chief Investment Officer at PG Asset Management. In addition to his executive management responsibilities he focuses on asset sourcing, transaction management and asset management. He has more than 25 years of experience as a real estate executive including over $4 billion of real estate transactions and over $1 billion of debt financing. Todd also has an extensive background in finance and accounting. He holds both a CFA designation, and a CPA (CMA) accounting designation in Canada.

Sven J. Matten

Managing Director, RECan Global
Sven is the co-founder and driving force behind RECan Global. As Managing Director he acts as the main link between the RECan team in the EU and in Canada. In addition to his executive responsibilities at RECan he focuses on Investor Relations, Strategy and Business Development. Sven has over 20 years of experience linking EU-based investors with investment opportunities in Canada and he has a very strong understanding of the investment process between the EU and Canada.  As a German citizen with Permanent Resident status in Canada Sven moves freely between the EU and Canada.
